Pi day

Just found it’s 3.14 today. Yes, it is Pi(e) day.

3.14159265359…

This famous constant number is fascinating for all math-lovers. It’s simply the ratio of diameter and circumference. However, it’s proven to be irrational number ‘surprisingly’.

Circle is a symbol for some sort of perfection, in East or West. But its derivative, Pi, is something we need computational crunching work to figure out astronomical number of digits for required precision (otherwise, any explorer to other planet misses the target !!).

OK. It sounds better to leave wonder of Pi to math-oriented post….

As last-minute try for this memorable Pi date, I fired up my 1-min code with Monte Carlo method to ‘estimate’ Pi value by a simple rule; just counting randomly-generated points which falling into the distance of 1 from the origin.

What a waste of  PC power! Anyway, quick go ended up with ‘3.14’ by 40000 iterations or so.

I could have saved my own memory if I made it in my GCSE days:)

Let’s go home for dinner with Pi(e)…..
